There is a growing and often urgent need for 4-H professionals to raise private sector dollars to support and sustain our program work. But have you been empowered with the experience and skills to be as successful as you could be in your efforts? No wonder “fundraising” is such a scary word! 4-H Fundraising Boot Camp will provide you with an intensive, hands-on introduction to many of the critical elements of fund development and will strengthen your ability to raise money from corporate, foundation and individual donors. At the conclusion of this pre-conference, you will come away with new skills and strategies you can begin using immediately to start or boost your fundraising efforts.
Saturday, October 23, 2010 8am – 3pm $50 per person
Lunch is included in the workshop fee.
This taskforce has successfully held three prior pre-conferences (2006, 2007, 2008) to meet the needs of 4-H professionals who are interested in learning about geospatial technologies and implementing related programs with local audiences. The taskforce did not host a preconference in 2009, but over 100 people attended our social, map gallery and board-sponsored seminar. Feedback from the participants indicated high-demand for more extended hands-on activity. The primary goal for the day is to provide basic information using Arc Explorer and ArcView to provide participants with skills needed to construct their first complete GIS map. Instruction will be headed up by Jim Kahler of the USDA and Esther Worker at ESRI. Other instructors will include Arizona 4-H youth and members of the NAE4-HA Geospatial Taskforce. The taskforce sees this preconference as the kick-off to a strand of geospatial learning experiences for 4-H professional throughout the week at the conference. We are submitting a board-sponsored seminar proposal, poster proposal, and will also host a social in conjunction with the taskforce business meeting. Pre-conference participants will be invited to attend these activities. A CD of resources will be provided to all participants.
